Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. Hiring for Property Services Technician

(Davenport, IA)

Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. (HMSI) seeking qualified individual to work full-time in our Emergency Shelter as a Property Services Technician.

The Property Services Technician supports the shelter team by maintaining a safe, clean environment through ongoing maintenance and janitorial work of the Emergency Shelter. In addition, the Property Services Technician provides basic maintenance work at HMSI’s Permanent Supportive Housing units.

Individual must possess basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems and have experience using hand and technical tools. Individual must also possess good knowledge of trouble shooting techniques in order to determine exact problems and tackle them accordingly. Individual must have manual dexterity and physical stamina and must have the ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain or snow and must be able to lift 50lbs.

Preferred experience includes: previous experience in a 24-hour residential facility, janitorial and maintenance work. Multilingual preferred.

Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. Hiring for Intake and Housing Specialist

(Davenport, IA)

Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. (HMSI) seeking two qualified individuals to work part-time in our Emergency Shelter as an Intake and Housing Specialist.

The hours for the first position are: 7am-12pm Monday-Friday

The hours for the second position are: 3pm-8pm Monday-Friday

Some flexibility in hours for both positions is required.

This position will be responsible for ensuring proper intake procedures are followed for all individuals entering our emergency shelter and will be focused on creating housing plans with participants. A key component of this position will be to assist people experiencing homelessness by helping them move as quickly as possible out of the shelter and into housing of their choice.

Additional services provided may be crisis intervention, completing assessment tools, case planning and coordinating with local law enforcement and hospitals for emergency placement.

Must have excellent communication skills, previous work experience with crisis management, mental health issues and substance abuse preferred. Qualified candidates will have a solid work history, reliable transportation and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Some college preferred.

Service Coordinator for the Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families Program

Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. (HMSI)-Davenport, IA is seeking a qualified individual to join the team as a Service Coordinator for the Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families Program. The position works directly with Veterans experiencing homelessness and requires strong organizational and communication skills. A qualified applicant will have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, have an understanding of social work ethics and principles, and knowledge of local VA services and resources. The position requires an acute attention to detail and documentation.

This position supports at risk and homeless Veterans who participate in the Supportive Services for Veterans and their Families Program. The Service Coordinator works closely with the VA, as well as other service providers to ensure ongoing support of program participants as they work on income enhancement, finding permanent housing, and developing self-sufficiency. The Service Coordinator acts to ensure the stability of individuals within the program, is familiar with/able to access resources for benefits and entitlements, alcohol and drug treatment, mental health treatment, and housing, and be effective working independently, as a member of a team, and as a part of a larger coalition.

The position is full-time.

Bachelor’s degree preferred in social work or related field. Applicant must also have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
